Urban Water Security Symposium 2026 in Pompeii: innovation and resilience for the cities of the future
On May 18–19, 2026, the city of Pompeii will host one of the most significant international events in the field of sustainable water management: the “Urban Water Security” Symposium, promoted by the UrbanWaterSECURITY initiative.
The event will serve as a meeting point for scientific research, technological innovation, and public policy, aiming to address the increasingly urgent challenges related to urban water security. The central theme of the 2026 edition, “Water Intelligence for Urban Resilience,” highlights the role of data, digital technologies, and applied intelligence in enhancing cities’ capacity to adapt to climate crises, water scarcity, and environmental pressures.
The symposium will bring together international experts, academics, institutions, and industry stakeholders to discuss advanced solutions in water infrastructure management, environmental monitoring, and sustainable urban planning. In this context, interdisciplinary dialogue is essential to translate research into practical applications and effective operational strategies.
As part of the broader UrbanWaterSECURITY ecosystem, the event is integrated with educational programs and academic initiatives aimed at training a new generation of water professionals capable of tackling global challenges through innovative and systemic approaches.
The choice of Pompeii as the venue adds strong symbolic value: a place where historical heritage meets forward-looking thinking, providing a unique setting to reflect on resilience, sustainability, and resource management.
